Dr. Karuna Anand is an American board-certified psychiatrist specializing in adult psychiatry. With expertise in diagnosing and treating mental health issues in adults, children, adolescents, and the elderly, she provides comprehensive care to her patients. She has explicit interest and experience as a Perinatal Psychiatrist in women mental health and she have always held a strong interest in women issues including mental health. Dr. Karuna Anand offers both psychotherapy (talk therapy) and psychopharmacologic (medication) treatments, addressing patients’ physical, emotional, and social needs.
She did her postgraduation in psychiatry at Loyola University in Chicago, Illinois after completion of her undergraduate in medicine. She has worked with world-renowned Psychiatrist; Dr. Meena Renshaw received a well-rounded training in all aspects of mental health disorders. She has 22 years of experience in the field of mental health both in the USA and UAE.
Prior to switching careers to psychiatry, Dr. Karuna Anand’s was practicing Obstetrics and Gynecology. Her knowledge and experience as an Ob/Gyn entuned her to the mental health issues in women during pregnancy and post-partum. Dr. Karuna Anand’s patient philosophy centers on treating the person as a whole: healing the mind, body, and spirit. In that regard, she believes in a comprehensive evaluation, accurate diagnosis before formulating a treatment plan. Her treatment might include psychotherapy (talk therapy), judicious use of psychopharmacology (using psychiatric medications to treat mental disorder), a combination of other alternative treatments (such as meditation, breathing exercises, journaling, yoga, and walking therapy), diet and nutrition.

Dr. Karuna Anand has been in field of mental for over 20 years in various leadership and clinical roles in USA before migrating to UAE. She has set up numerous outpatient programs in UAE, have presented and given lectures in several important conferences and forums both in USA and UAE and has numerous DHA accredited talks to her credit, in Dubai.
During her residency training at Loyola University in Chicago, Illinois, She had the opportunity to evaluate and treat Marilyn Lemak, who tragically killed her three children due to depression and psychosis. Subsequently, she encountered the case of Andrea Yates, a woman who exhibited severe postpartum depression and postpartum psychosis, leading to the tragic drowning of her five children. These experiences have greatly shaped her understanding and expertise in the field of mental health.,
